Бледных данаид местью помыслы полные
Призвали Мести Богиню с руками в крови.

Пятидесяти женихов, красавцев египетских.
Их глазницы пустые с чёрными дырами
Тысячи лет в снах болезненных видятся:
Демонами ненависти сердца их вырваны.
Ненависть прекрасных ливийских невест,
Словно жестокой богини Сехмет опьяненье
Или Гидры Лернейской множенье окрест.
Правы не жертвы, а победой опьянённые
На празднике жизни в речах у могил,
Чтоб ненависть, злобу в себе не убить.

THE BARRED OF HATE
Hatred is the barrel of pale Danaides;
The lost Vengeance has strong red arms,
A beautiful precipitate in empty darkness sees
Large buckets full of blood and tears of the dead,
The Demons make secret holes in these abysses,
Where would a thousand years of sweat and effort flee,
Even if they could revive their victims
to resuscitate their bodies, to pressurize them.
Hatred is a drunk at the bottom of a tavern,
it always feels thirst born of liquor
And multiplies like the Lernaean Hydra.
- But happy drinkers know how they are able,
And Hatred is doomed to this dismal fate
To never be able to fall asleep under the table.
