Pet
I woke up much earlier that morning,
I know you are always indoors,
Was looking for you, trying turning
The sofas, the chairs by the floors

The window is open, its frame
Is covered with tiny holes…
Ran out “as is” (what a shame!) –
The neighbor… I’m sweeping towards…

I’m driving away, but still hear
His words– I just have to trust –
He saw you rush in fear,
You moved through the village so fast…

My God - the car on its tires,
My destiny – the road curve…
My arm leaves the wheel, and fires
All lights through the trees to observe…

I stepped on the breaks, and I’m standing
Not far from where we used to live,
I see you, might be just pretending…
My eyes – do they themselves believe?

You climbed up the hill, watched the water,
Just trying to jump ahead…
I’m running, touching the bottom,
My hand holds you, shaking and wet…

I brought you back home, called the vets,
They said – yes, that’s true, that some species
Prevent us from having regrets,
Just leaving the thoughts, that conditions

Were not very good. But this case
Is different from mortal others…
My Pet, let’s explore Open Space –
But don’t send me to the forefathers!
