Не рыбка для стола.

Его не сваришь целиком,

И супница мала.

 

Сей компенсировать изъян

Нам может жир китов -

Замена маслу из семян

(Растительных даров).

 

И каждый в Оксфорде студент

Знать должен, как топить

Китовый жир. Потом - доцент -

Он сможет всех учить.

The Whale that wanders round the Pole

   Is not a table fish.

You cannot bale or boil him whole, 

   Nor serve him in a dish. 

 

But you may cut his blubber up

   And melt it down for oil,

And so replace the colza bean

   (A product of the soil).
